Breony Ayers
I bring over twenty years of experience in inclusive education, human rights, and community advocacy, with a strong focus on equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). My professional path has involved working across education, social services, and non-profit leadership, supporting individuals and organizations in creating environments where everyone can participate fully.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies from Royal Roads University, where I contributed to research and capacity-building initiatives aimed at embedding EDI principles within higher education. I also hold a Diploma in Social Services and a Certificate in Mental Health from Vancouver Island University.
Throughout my career, I have led inclusive education initiatives, developed Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and supported community advocacy projects aimed at removing barriers to access. I currently serve as a Councillor-at-Large with the BC Green Party, where I chair the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, advancing initiatives that foster equity and accessibility within organizational governance and culture.
Beyond my professional work, I have eight years of lived experience as a Home Share Provider, living with and supporting a neurodivergent individual. Over this time, I have seen firsthand the importance of person-centred support, stability, and encouragement in fostering growth, confidence, and independence. The individual I support has flourished through a shared focus on inclusion, community engagement, and skill development. This experience has given me deep insight into the systemic challenges neurodivergent individuals face, as well as the transformative power of patient, relationship-based support
